World Heritage List as a Travel Guide

In my own travels, I have used the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage List as an itinerary of sorts or travel guide if you will. When traveling to a given region try to visit as many of the word heritage sites as possible. For example, if you are visit Mexico City you can easily do day trips to the following world heritage sites.

  • Historic Center of Mexico City
  • Luis Barragán House and Studio
  • Xochimilco
  • Pre-Hispanic City of Teotihuacan
  • Archaeological Monuments Zone of Xochicalco
  • Historic Center of Puebla
  • Earliest 16th-Century Monasteries on the Slopes of Popocatepetl
  • Central University City Campus of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México

Giving yourself a travel challenge like gives you the opportunity to discover new places and venture out of the beaten path and the same tourist routine.
