Sausalito - The Other City in the Bay
Sausalito is located north of San Francisco, just at the other end of the Golden Gate Bridge. The main avenue in Sausalito is Bridgeway. You will find many coffee shops, specialty stores, galleries, and restaurants along Bridgeway as well as a small park and fountain. Bridgeway stretches along the shore and has great views of Angel Island, Alcatraz Island, and San Francisco.
Some of the personal favorite spots to grab a quick bit to eat are Lappert's Ice Cream parlor, Caffe Trieste, Bridgeway Cafe, and the aptly named Hamburgers. There are also plenty of fine restaurants with a great seafood selection such as The Spinnaker, Sushi Ran, and Scoma's.
One of my favorite specialty store is Jewelry by the Bay, where I was able to find hard to find unique gift items such as hand crafted soap by the Napa Soap Company, inspirational hand made candles from South Africa, and hand painted martini glasses with the recipe that inspired each painted glass.
Sausalito is a favorite destination for families, weekend tourist and cyclists alike.
Sausalito is the other city in the bay, the reason the bridge was built.
